A few days ago, I received an email talking about a woman who is of God.
It was very beautiful. It described a woman of God as being like this and being like that… There were so many things that it took me a while to understand it.
Women of God make mistakes too. They also have flaws and weaknesses.
Sometimes I get emails and comments saying, “I wish I were a woman of God like you…”
The moment you abandon the wrong life and start afresh with Jesus, and do His will and not yours, denying yourself, you become a person of God! A woman of God!
Dear friends, I often ask myself this question: “If they knew the real me, with my flaws and weaknesses, would they still think like that?”
I’m not saying that I’m not a woman of God, but I think you’re being unfair with yourselves for two reasons:
By doing this, you think that being a woman of God is an almost unreachable goal, and that you’ll never make it. This is so wrong!
Without realising it, you begin to think that women of God are perfect. And when you see them make a mistake, you’re shocked and start looking at them in a negative way. It’s so unfair!
I’ll tell you something… I fight against my flaws, my mistakes and my weaknesses the same way you do, but my faith is what makes the difference.
My faith makes me look ahead when I fail; it gives me strength to go on and believe I can change myself or the situation I might be facing!
I fight my battles every day. I fight against my flesh (which constantly wants to take over), my short temper that often makes me feel embarrassed, my way of being sincere that many times makes me sound rude…. This is my battle!
Please don’t put women you admire on a pedestal, making it so hard for you to become one of them. Only the Lord Jesus deserves to be called perfect!
You look at her and think, “I wish I were like her!”
Whoever she is, she’s not perfect. Considering her perfect is an unfair judgement.
Our flaws and imperfections don’t prevent us from being women of God!
